Open Call: Kintsugi – Powerful Stories of Healing Trauma

This is SinCyr’s first nonfiction open call! For this collection, we’ve decided to call it Kintsugi, named after the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold or other fine materials. The idea is to take something shattered or cracked and turn it into a piece even more beautiful than before.

What we’re looking for:

Personal stories about healing trauma. For some of you, writing this piece may be your first step to healing. For others, you may have come through great amounts of abuse and found your agency and joy. These stories will vary because abuse varies. How it affects us varies. Because the company is focused on shifting rape culture, body shaming, toxic masculinity and so forth, the stories should fit somewhere into these categories.

Were you sexually abused? Body shamed? Harassed and bullied for your sexuality or gender? The victim of abused power? Did the abuse cause difficulty in maintaining healthy relationships? How has the abuse affected you sexually and how have you healed? Found your joy? Or are you taking that first step to healing right now by writing for this collection?

Transformation is beautiful. Sharing your story is powerful.

Here are some vital details to remember when writing for and submitting to this collection:

  • These stories should focus on healing from abuse. Sharing abuse is necessary to illustrate what you’ve overcome, but we’d like the focus to be on the healing and not the trauma itself. If this is your first step to healing, you might share how you came to accept what happened or what you plan to do to move forward now that you’ve shared and started down the path of healing.
  • For liability reasons, please don’t call out specific people for their abuse. Keep it vaguer. We can’t print anything that calls out someone in too much detail. This includes mental health, as it’s not ethical to print other’s mental illness details. There is also the option of pen names or Jane Doe One, John Doe Five, etc…
  • Polished stories only. Make sure your story is clean. Follow the submission guidelines for formatting.

Submission Guidelines:

  • 12pt font, Times New Roman
  • Double Spaced, no extra line between paragraphs
  • Do not hit the “tab” key to indent paragraphs. Use Word’s margins/ruler to indent.
  • Send in Word doc or rtf. Word is preferred.

Word count: 1000-5000 words
One story submission per person.
Submission Deadline: October 31, 2017

Open Call for: Owning It!

Open call for Owning It! – Embracing Our Bodies, Sexuality, and Power

Edited by S.B. Roark and Sienna Saint-Cyr

What are we looking for in this anthology? Stories that include loving our bodies, embracing our sexuality, and owning our power. We’re tired of men being shamed for the size of their penis or ability to show emotion. Tired of women being told they need to smile more because their resting bitch face isn’t happy enough. Tired of power being abused, slut-shaming, and body-shaming.

We want characters with agency and relatable situations. Men dealing with toxic masculinity, a wheelchair-bound woman with a desire to pole dance, an intersexual and gender fluid character that swaps between Mommy and Daddy for their submissive. Show us power used properly. Healthy sexuality. Bodies that heat us up no matter size, shape, ability or color…

Give us characters that love who they are or learn to love who they are.

Nothing illegal.

Heat level: Hot to Intense
Word count: 3000-6000 words
Pairing: Any
No simultaneous submissions
Submission Deadline: June 30, 2017

Send submissions to sincyr.submissions@gmail.com with the anthology and your story title in the subject line. See submissions page for formatting details. Please send word docs.

Payment – 60% of net royalties split between authors.

Open Call for: Working It!

Open call for: Working It! – Sex on the Job

Edited by Harley Easton

White collar. Blue collar. It doesn’t matter what collar you’re wearing once the shirts come off. I’m looking for sexy situations that happen on the job. Ideally, this anthology will be split between white collar and blue collar so I want stories about lawyers and bankers right next to ones about janitors and warehouse workers. Give me people that work hard and play harder, especially in bed.

Think about a CEO that finds herself yearning for the new guy in the mail room. Spin me a tale about the engineer who can’t keep his eyes off the sexy construction worker on the site. Give me co-workers who finally decide they don’t care about the company policy on dating.

I’m looking for more than just a rough sex scene. Stories selected for this anthology will need sensuality and depth. Make sure your story has, well, a story. SinCyr Publishing was established to offer readers sexy stories with relatable characters facing real problems. Focus on sex-positive characters and storylines that showcase healthy sex practices, including consent. Sexual harassment in the workplace is unacceptable, so your characters need to agree they both want this.

Character diversity is encouraged. Write people of all different shapes, sizes, races, genders, and orientations. Be creative. Give your characters backgrounds and dialogue that move the plot forward.

Nothing illegal.

Open Call for ‘Getting It’!

Open call for Getting It! – A Femdom Anthology

Co-edited by S.B. Roark and Sienna Saint-Cyr

Misogyny is all around us, so what better way to enjoy feminine power than with a Femdom anthology? What are we looking for? Women dominating, of course! Whether it’s a sweet story of a Domme and her subby gurl or a Professional Dominatrix hired to correct the misogynistic jerk in the copy room, show us spicy, evocative, sexually confident women in the seat of power.

Pairing and gender can be any, but when the domination takes place, the person dominating needs to be associating as female. We want stories that honor feminine power and agency.

To fit the theme, someone in the story needs to ‘get it’. That can be in a sexual way, a mental Ah ha! moment or some other form of getting it. Since the term ‘to get it’ is often used to denote getting laid, we wanted to up the stakes and give our readers a twist of what all getting it might mean. Is it simply getting laid? Or is there a deeper level of understanding that often accompanies Dominance and submission?

Please see our submissions page for additional information, guidelines, and formatting. Remember, consent is important to us! No matter the circumstance—including when the misogynistic jerk is being put in his place—we need conversation and clear consent.

Nothing illegal.

Heat level: Intense

Word count: 3000-6000 words

Pairing: Any, but see stipulation above.

Open to multiple submissions, though no more than three.

Submission Deadline: February 28, 2017

Announcing SinCyr Publishing!

sincyr5

Coming soon! SinCyr Publishing, publisher of erotic fiction and nonfiction. We will make an announcement here when we are accepting submissions. Check back often!

FOUNDER

The founder of SinCyr Publishing, author Sienna Saint-Cyr, is passionate about her lifestyle and healing her trauma through sexuality. When she ventured into BDSM, she had a difficult time finding information on healing trauma through sexuality. Sienna created SinCyr Publishing in hopes of providing delicious fictional erotica as well as nonfiction content around BDSM, sexuality, consent, and more.

VISION

At SinCyr Publishing, we wish to provide relatable characters facing real problems to our readers, in the sexiest manner possible. What does this mean to us? We want bodies of all shapes, sizes, physical ability, race, gender, relationship style, and sexual preference. Our intent is to offer a large selection of books to readers that cover topics ranging from sexual healing to sexual empowerment, to body positivity, gender equality, and more.

Erotica is amazing and we are all for our readers simply enjoying our content for spank material, but our ultimate goal is to provide educational and sex-positive characters and storylines. Too many of us experience body shaming, sexual shaming, and/or sexual abuse in our lives and we want to publish stories that allow people to connect to the characters and find healing. This means showing healthy BDSM practices and characters that understand consent and proper communication.

This can look like many things: a sci-fi with three consenting alien partners or a mainstream novel, where a sweet couple falls in love and struggles because they’re kinky and living in the Bible belt. No matter what the content is, our focus is on empowering our readers through our content. Which means even if aliens are the main characters, their problems need to be relatable to us as humans.

Most of us aren’t the popular, rich, athlete with the perfect body and charismatic demeanor. Most of us are awkward, have struggles, and we have to work on ourselves to find happiness and acceptance of who we are. Meeting our goal would mean that readers could find healing, knowledge, and/or empowerment through our books.

MISSION

To provide sex-positive, body-positive, and sexually empowered characters and content to readers of erotic fiction. To educate on topics ranging from non-traditional relationships to BDSM, consent, healing trauma, and more, for readers of nonfiction.
